I noticed I’m more inclined to buy things I really don’t need if:
a. I’m extremely happy
or
b. Extremely lonely/in need of attention
In the case of a I tend to buy more things for others. In the case of b I typically buy things solely for myself. I’m sure there’s more things that come into play when it comes to my buying urges but it’s just the trend I’ve noticed. I think the fact that knowing there’s no one around to hold me accountable when I’m buying things when I’m lonely or want attention just makes me feel better overall. Knowing when the people I want to spend time with are off doing other things I find temporary happiness in something that won’t ever leave me because it can’t.
